Brent Spiner (‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’,’Independance Day’) has just been elected by the casting department of The CW’s ‘Supergirl‘ to join the show. His role? Vice President of the United States! That’s right folks, in the fourth season of ‘Supergirl’ were going to have Spiner joining the cast as a regular to work with Lynda Carter (‘Wonder Woman’) who is the President of the United States.

I suspect that she won’t be staying in the Oval Office for long though as Spiner’s role is being described as:

Adept and politically minded, Vice President Baker makes for an unlikely leader but steps up in a big way when his country needs him most.

As we know, one of the significant problems in the season will be “human first” supporters which appear to be lead by Rhona Mitra as Mercy Graves and her brother Otis played by Robert Baker this could spell problems for the President. It isn’t clear if they’ll use the fact that she’s an alien to have her removed from office, if they’ll kidnap or kill her, or if the mysterious Soviet Supergirl who looks to be inspired by the “Red Son” story arc will end up being what puts Vice President Baker into power.

We’ve still got a lot of questions as to how all of this plays out, but it will be refreshing to see Spiner in a significant part again.

Are you excited to see that Brent Spiner is joining the cast of ‘Supergirl’ on The CW? Do you think that he’ll be the heroic Vice President who is implied here or will he be put in power through with an ulterior motive? If his stepping up does mean that he becomes President, will we see Carter’s character return by the end of the season? Share your thoughts below!
