Koi… Mil Gaya – August 8, 2003
The Rakesh Roshan directorial science-fiction Koi… Mil Gaya, which was loosely based on 1982 Hollywood hit E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, turned out to be a game-changing film for Hrithik Roshan. Interestingly, the lead actress’ role in the film was earlier offered to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, but post her rejection Preity Zinta came on the board. Apart from garnering immense critical acclaim, the film turned out to be one of the highest grossers of that year. Koi… Mil Gaya also went on to win three National and five Filmfare Awards, which included Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor.
Chennai Express – August 8, 2013
Well, Chennai Express is undoubtedly one of the funniest and typical masala entertainers of recent times. The Rohit Shetty action-comedy, which earned over Rs 228 crore is still the biggest hit of Shah Rukh Khan’s career. Also featuring Deepika Padukone, Sathyaraj and Nikitin Dheer, Chennai Express was the second highest grosser of 2013 after Dhoom 3. The film crossed the Rs 400 crore mark at the worldwide box office.
