WARSAW: Tomasz Bagiński is in development with a new film Twardovsky 3.14, a full feature continuation of the short films series Polish Legends, that he created for Allegro.
Polish Legends is a series of five short science-fiction or fantasy films by Bagiński for Polish e-commerce platform Allegro and Platige Image. The topic of the films is a futuristic interpretation of Polish fables and legends. The series including The Dragon, Twardowsky, Twardowsky 2.0 and Operation Basilisk was commissioned by Allegro to Platige Image, where Marcin Kobylecki, Krzysztof Noworyta and Tobiasz Piątkowski designed a campaign based on films directed by Bagiński, that was complete with literary works and audiobooks produced to promote the Allegro platform. The short films are available on Youtube, where they reached over 50 million views since November 2015, when the series was first made available to the public.
The full feature film under the working title Twardowsky 3.14 will be produced by Platige Image in coproduction with Allegro and NEXT FILM. Pan Twardowski, in Polish folklore and literature, is a sorcerer who made a deal with the devil and sold his soul in exchange for special powers. In Bagiński’s futuristic version he is an astronaut racing Lucifer to the border of the Solar System.
“We can reveal that Twardowsky 3.14 will be a continuation of the adventures of some of our protagonists, but not all of them, as we will add a couple of new characters. We will visit hell. We will visit the past and future of Poland. We want to bring Twardowsky to the Earth, so he can join the other heroes of Polish Legends” Bagiński said in a statement.
The budget and the cast of the film have not been announced. “We plan to continue our co-operation with the actors and crew that were previously involved in the project, who created characteristic roles and became an inseparable part the Legends,” Anna Iller, Allegro Content Manager, told FNE. The leading role of Twardowsky in Twardowsky 2.0 was played by popular Polish actor Robert Więckiewicz, with cast members Aleksandra Kasprzyk, Piotr Machalica and Tomasz Drabek.
The premiere of the film is planned for the last quarter of 2019.
